Nick here! Several industry pastors and professionals have joined with us to help offer perspective and encouragement through this blog...I am personally thankful for Jerry Bryant...his thoughts are a much needed reminder to me as I often get way too caught up in where I think God is leading me, or where I think I want to go.
He writes:
At the beginning of each new season there is the opportunity to reflect on the past and make plans for the future. There is a tendency to rush in to the new year with plans, goals and agenda.
Jesus said, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Mt. 11:28, NKJV).
What if we were to enter the New year in resting in Jesus…looking only to Him for the next step…not what we think best or what has already been planned on the books.
Mylon LeFevre was a good example of this. He’d take the Broken Heart Band schedule before the Lord and a group of his spiritual elders and ask the Lord to confirm or cancel the dates. Sometimes he would just feel he wasn’t to go to a particular place at least not at that time.
This would be a good year to learn again what it means to be led by the Spirit of God in all things!
